Tale of an Engineer

                     Who is an Engineer?

Source: www.google.com

Says Wikipedia. But I think it is boring.

According to me

             Skills of an average Engineer

. Extreme Multitasking Abilities (can handle teacher, cell phone
lunch, sleep simultaneously in the duration of 50 minutes).

. Ability to find Gold from Dust (can find Quantums even from       heap of books).

. Optimistic Approach to Life (can attempt full question paper          even after 3 continuous movies watching, the previous night).

. Wide vision + Broad Perspective (can focus on his girlfriend and    her best friend at a time).

                     Origin of an Engineer

Well, all students perusing Engineering have once dreamt of doing it from an ITT college. But as the seats are limited in government colleges, one has to opt for a private Engineering Manufacturing Company (so called "A Professional Engineering College").

My Experience:

The following statics clearly shows who common we are: Over 33 lacks student opt for P.G. and U.G. courses in a year.

So only 9,885 students get into IITs and Therefore the RACE begins for rest of the engineers.

Total Intake per year

It is interesting to note that about 34 lacks students has applied for U.G. and P.G. courses during 2012-2013.With no surprise Uttar Pardesh topped the list with 3,38,911 Intake.

Adding to this, AICTE received 886 new proposals for starting new engineering college and 1,084 for new Management Institutions last year reported TOI.

Gender Discrimination

According to a report of today's UWA's core engineering unit, the male to female ratio for various
branches of engineering is given below:

1st sem – INTRO. TO ENGINEERING MECHANICS 892 students, 18.3% female
1st sem – INTRO. TO PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING 435 students, 14.3% female
2nd sem – COMPUTING FOR ENGINEERS AND SCIENTISTS 202 students, 17.8% female
2nd sem – INTRO. TO ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING 728 students, 19.4% female
2nd sem – INTRO. TO PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING 570 students, 23.2% female
2nd year – MODELLING AND COMPUTER ANALYSIS FOR ENGINEERS 637 students, 19.2% female

Let us now see the equations of engineering:

Top engineering branches as stated by Hindustan Times

1. Computer Science & Engineering/IT
2. .Electronics & Communication Engineering
3. Electrical & Electronics Engineering
4. .Mechanical Engineering
5. Civil Engineering/ Environment Engineering
6. Chemical Engineering
7.  Biotechnology

Placement

According to a report of Economics Times 50-70% of the engineers are hired by IT companies and most of them get jobs well below their technical qualification. "Somewhere between a fifth to a third of the million students graduating out of India's engineering colleges run the risk of being unemployed" .

The whole picture presented above surely suggests that something should have to be changed.Owing to reservation system and corruption picture can't change at Intake level, but instead we should change ourself. It's  a race and the person who is better will win. So instead of wasting time on social networks, watching movies, etc. It is the right time to decide our goal and to start our journey toward them.

In next post You will read about the persons who wrote their own destiny. And how they were different from rest of the crowd.

College Dropout Billionaires in World

1. Bill Gates

ThHarvard Crimson called him "Harvard's most successful dropout" — the rest of the world just calls him ridiculously rich. For more than a decade, Bill Gates has been one of the wealthiest, if not the wealthiest, men in the world. The son of an attorney and a schoolteacher, Gates entered Harvard in the fall of 1973, only to drop out two years later to found Microsoft with childhood friend Paul Allen. In 2007, more than thirty years after he left Harvard, the co-founder of Microsoft would finally receive his degree (an honorary doctorate) from his alma mater. At the commencement, Gates said, "I'm a bad influence. That's why I was invited to speak at your graduation. If I had spoken at your orientation, fewer of you might be here today."

2. Steve Jobs

The Mac, the iPod, heck, even Buzz Lightyear probably wouldn't have existed had Steve Jobs stayed in school. The future wizard of One Infinite Loop dropped out of Reed College after just six months because of the undue financial strain it placed on his working-class parents' savings. He would go on to eventually found Apple, NeXT Computer and Pixar, becoming an instrumental force in shaping the landscape of modern culture. However, his brief tenure in academia was not for naught. In a 2005 commencement speech he gave at Stanford University, Jobs credited a calligraphy class he took at Reed College with forming the basis for the typography used in the first Macintosh computer.

3. James Cameron

The Academy Award-winning director followed a circuitous route to Hollywood. Born and raised in Canada, he and his family moved to Brea, California in 1971. It was there that the young Cameron enrolled in Fullerton College to study physics. His academic life did not last long. He would drop out, marry a waitress and eventually become a truck driver for the local school district. It was not until he saw Star Warsin 1977 that Cameron would trade his blue collar career for one creating some of the late 20th-century's most stunning (and expensive) science-fiction movies.

4. Mark Zuckerberg

Most college students use their dorm rooms to sleep, study, or do things their parents probably don't want to know about. Mark Zuckerberg founded Facebook in his. Originally meant only for Harvard students, the popular social networking site quickly spread to the rest of the Ivies and other colleges across the nation. As Facebook's popularity exploded, Zuckerberg packed up his bags and relocated the fledgling company to Palo Alto, California, forever leaving behind Harvard's hallowed halls. So far, the decision has worked out pretty well for the twenty-something. According to Forbes, Zuckerberg is the youngest billionaire in the world, with a 2010 net worth of $4 billion.

Conclusion:

The purpose of the article is not to advice you for college dropping out. But instead, I shall ask my readers to aim high as the above personalities has done. According to me, one should follow his dreams, no matter what sacrifices are needed. To have an identity among the crowd is what that matters. And during your journey, audience(others) will sometime support you but rest of the the time they will criticize you.
